Have you been cleanfluenced?

Hi there! Welcome to Cleaning Queen's blog!

This month we are talking about the rise of "cleanfluencers" and how they have revolutionised the way we think about cleaning.

Let's take a closer look...

The Dawn of the Cleanfluencer Era

The trend started with individuals sharing cleaning tips and tricks online. However, it wasn't long before certain personalities began to stand out. In the UK, figures like Mrs. Hinch (Sophie Hinchliffe) have become household names. With millions of follower, Mrs. Hinch has turned the chore of cleaning into an aspirational activity, something to take pride in and even enjoy.

Higher Expectations

As these influencers gained popularity, so did their methods and recommended products. Mrs. Hinch's 'Hinch Army' doesn't just watch her clean; they follow her advice. This means that when they look for professional cleaning services, they're not just looking for someone to tidy up—they're looking for someone who can match the high standards they've seen online.

The 'Hinch effect' has been so significant that it's been credited with boosting sales of cleaning products in the UK. In 2019, it was reported that the 'Hinch effect' helped drive a 14% increase in sales of cleaning products. This demonstrates not only the influence these personalities have on consumer behaviour but also the elevated importance of cleaning in the public consciousness.

Changing Cleaning Products and Techniques

Influencers often promote eco-friendly products and natural solutions for cleaning, which has led to a shift in consumer expectations. Clients are now more informed and concerned about the ingredients in cleaning products and their environmental impact. As a result Cleaning Queen are happy to use their customers products if they prefer their favourite products to be used.

The Professional Upsurge

Interestingly, the rise of cleanfluencers has also led to an increase in demand for professional cleaning services. While these influencers inspire people to improve their cleaning standards, not everyone has the time or the inclination to do it themselves.

The Visual Impact

Social media is a visual platform, and cleanfluencers often post before-and-after pictures showcasing impressive transformations. This has raised the visual expectations of cleanliness. It's not enough for a home to feel clean; it must look immaculate.

Education and Empowerment

One positive aspect of this trend is the educational element. Cleanfluencers often share knowledge about the science of cleaning, which empowers people to make informed decisions about the products and methods they use. This has led to clients who are more knowledgeable about what they want from our cleaning services.

The Future of Cleaning Standards

Looking ahead, it's clear that social media influencers will continue to play a significant role in shaping public perceptions of cleaning.

The cleanfluencer trend has shown that cleaning is not just about maintaining hygiene; it's about creating a lifestyle and a sense of well-being. As professionals, we have the opportunity to contribute to this by offering cleaning services while also carving out our niche by providing a personal touch and customised cleaning plans for our clients.

Are you making these top cleaning mistakes?
by Danielle Navarro 17 May, 2024
Hi there! Welcome to Cleaning Queen's blog! This month we are talking about how to avoid the 5 Most Common Cleaning Mistakes... Let’s dive into the top five blunders people make when cleaning their homes and, more importantly, how to avoid them! 1. Using the Wrong Cleaning Products One of the most frequent mistakes we see is using the wrong cleaning products for the job. Not all cleaning products are created equal, and using the wrong one can damage surfaces or simply not do the job properly. Avoidance Tip: Always read the labels on your cleaning products. Make sure you’re using a product that’s safe and effective for the surface you’re cleaning. For example, avoid using acidic cleaners on marble or natural stone, as they can cause etching and dullness. Invest in a good all-purpose cleaner for general use, but also keep specific products for different surfaces like wood, glass, and stainless steel. 2. Overloading the Dishwasher It’s tempting to cram as much as possible into the dishwasher to save time and energy, but overloading can lead to poor cleaning results and even breakages. Avoidance Tip: Follow the manufacturer's loading instructions. Ensure that water can circulate freely around all items, and don’t block the spray arms. It’s better to run two loads than to end up with dishes that need to be washed again. 3. Skipping the Dusting Many people go straight to vacuuming or mopping without dusting first. This can lead to a less thorough clean, as dust gets pushed around rather than removed. Avoidance Tip: Always start by dusting surfaces from top to bottom. Use a microfiber cloth, which is great for trapping dust rather than just moving it around. Don’t forget to dust light fixtures, window sills, and baseboards before moving on to other tasks. 4. Not Cleaning Cleaning Tools It’s ironic, but often our cleaning tools themselves are not clean, which can lead to ineffective cleaning and even the spread of dirt and bacteria. Avoidance Tip: Regularly clean your cleaning tools. Wash microfiber cloths and mop heads in the washing machine, and disinfect sponges and brushes. Empty and clean your vacuum's dust container or replace the bag frequently, and ensure that filters are cleaned or replaced as per the manufacturer’s instructions. 5. Ignoring the Manufacturer’s Instructions Many people ignore or forget to read the manufacturer’s instructions for their appliances and cleaning products. This can lead to misuse and damage. Avoidance Tip: Take a few minutes to read the instructions for both your cleaning products and household appliances. This will not only help you use them correctly but also extend their lifespan. For instance, knowing the correct amount of detergent to use in your washing machine can prevent over-sudsing and residue build-up. So there you have it! By avoiding these common cleaning mistakes, you can make your home sparkle and shine without the stress.
